A balanced trade policy, reducing trade deficits to near zero, will, it is claimed, support lower unemployment by keeping “good jobs” here, drive wages up rather than down, be more sustainable, and won't contribute to a collapse of the global economy.

But, there is an important truth of macroeconomics to be considered. “Exports are real costs; and Imports are real benefits.” So, the issue is, would we rather send fiat money to other nations and add to our real wealth in return, or would we rather add to their real wealth and get their fiat money, or our old fiat money back in return? Other things being equal, we'd prefer the first alternative rather than the second: trade deficits are better than trade surpluses, at least in the short run.

Other things are not equal, however, since if the Government running trade deficits does nothing to compensate for their shorter and longer-term effects, then these will create a political reaction de-stabilizing any trade policy resulting in continuous trade deficits. However, their negative effects can be avoided without implementing “balanced trade” as a continuous policy. How that can be done is the subject of this book. It looks at trade policy in the broader context of budgetary and fiscal policy, and the relations among the foreign, domestic private, and government sectors of the economy. And, since the trade balance impacts the private sector and the government balance, it argues for an integrative view of trade and fiscal policy in relation to public purpose, and also proposes changes to Government institutions to facilitate integrated trade and fiscal policy.

The book analyzes and critiques:: Free Trade Policy; Balanced Trade Policy (including Warren Buffett's proposal); three types of Fair Trade Policy; Trade for Public Purpose Policy; Impact Assessment for Trade Policy; Balanced Budget Fiscal Policy; Deficit Neutrality in the Long Run Fiscal Policy; Budgeting for Public Purpose Fiscal Policy; A Holistic Approach to Trade and Fiscal Policy; and A Critique of the Current Trade Deals. Finally, the concluding chapter presents the book’s many conclusions, including some about the pending trade deals being negotiated by the Obama Administration, and an agenda relating fiscal and trade policies to public purpose. That agenda calls for much larger levels of deficit spending by the Federal Government than we have now, and it contends that continuous budget deficits are both necessary and desirable for the foreseeable future.

Roger Campbell has been in the ministry for more than thirty-five years, twenty-two of which were spent pastoring three Michigan churches. Since 1974, he has been engaged in writing and speaking in local church Bible conferences and radio ministry. Among the seventeen books he has authored are: A Place to Hide; Lord, I'm Afraid; Staying Positive in a Negative World; and You Can Win.

About the Author

Roger Campbell (1930-2015) was in the ministry for over fifty years. He spent many years as a pastor, and in the late 1970's he launched Roger Campbell Ministries, an evangelical ministry through which he produced radio broadcasts, wrote weekly newspaper columns, and spoke at church Bible conferences. He is the author of nearly 30 books, including the acclaimed Preach for a Year series.

When blocked and for holidays/secular days

I purchased this book from a Christian book store for $12.99, new. Sometimes as a pastor, you are having your own problems and can't focus even though your faith remains strong. Also, holidays, especially secular ones are challenging to preach something new and these ideas help jump start me. I add my own ideas and personalizations as a topic has no interest one week and does another - God still leads. I have preached 8 sermons with help from this book from 07 - today, 10/18/09, a large span of time. It is worth the cost if I preach even 10 from this book when I am challenged. Preached from the following titles - New Years 06 - A Year to Build, 5/07 - The Day of Good Tidings, 3/08 - Tell Peter - a very good sermon! Today, a good one - Head for the Hills; 4/08 - What Aileth Thee, Hager, 5/08, Memorial Day - Memorials to the Master.

You can just print out the skeleton outline and have room to add your own key words/notes.

Another Must Read by Lynn Ames

I have read many of Lynn Ames books, but this is my new favorite.

Pros - Extremely well written (Lynn did her research)
Characters that you can not only relate to, but can fall in love with.
The kind of story that you don't want to end.

Cons - Too short - give me more!!! I was disappointed when I finished, I didn't want the story to end. This one begs for a sequel. (hint, hint Lynn!)

Another great read by the wonderful Lynn Ames! Get your copy now ladies, you won't regret it!

Eloquently written and refreshing. It took me one day to read this I couldn't put it down. The characters came alive in this. I felt like I was in their world and it took the first page to capture the care the author has invested in the main characters. I did not rate this higher than three stars due to the unrealistic emotions. I am saying unrealistic because Rebecca and Dara cried at the drop of a hat. With what they had both suffered through in their childhood they would not have allowed such emotion to show so easily. The rest of the story was captivating I would even be willing to read a sequel if it was written.

Lynn Ames never disappoints.

It definitely fulfills my take of a perfect romantic novel. Famous gorgeous actress, beautiful smart professor, great supportive friends, all likeable people written with depth.

Emotions, attraction, intellect, looks and spirituality.
I am impressed and wished I did not finished reading that fast. It will be a long wait till her next novel.

About the Author
Randolph M. Hirsch began his writing career in 2004 with his first feature length screenplay, Once In A Lifetime: “Just Go For It!” A Romantic comedy drama. He eventually condensed the screenplay in to a 20 minute short film, which he later produced and submitted it to the New York short film Festival, and it was very well received. Following that, he made two Travel films in 2006 and 2007, Randolph Hirsch's Ukraine Adventure and Randolph Hirsch Discovers Paris. He later released a how to business guide for Accountants entitled: The Blueprints Marketing Guide for Accountants, Tax Professionals and CPAs. Recently, Mr. Hirsch has released six books in 2014: There’s A Reason You’re Here Moshe, Once In A Lifetime: Just Go For It! The feature screenplay; Daniel Day-Lewis, three time Academy Award Winning Best Actor, the Ultimate Biography; Philip Seymour Hoffman, Academy Award winning Actor of Capote and the Master, the Ultimate Biography of a Great Actor; Matthew McConaughey, Best Actor 2014: The Ultimate Biography; and Making Kids Smile, a "how to" guide for aspiring children’s entertainers and performers. Murray clicks on computerized fiction creation today and speculates how incipient technologies will shape storytelling tomorrow. Once a computer programmer and now an MIT literature professor, Murray adopts a positive view of "cyberliterature" that might allow a "reader" to navigate a story's landscape, alter its plot, and even interact directly with its characters. Rather than decry this as a dystopian demise of the imagination that comes from reading, Murray believes it will enhance the imaginative encounter with fiction. She details things already being created on the Web, such as customized episodes of popular movies and TV programs and CD games like Myst, in which the player becomes integral to the action. From these she defines characteristic features of the new literature, especially the participation of the "interactor," and proceeds to wonder what aesthetic quality might emerge from an infinitely malleable storytelling environment. Murray is confident a digitally adept Tolstoy will master the media, and aspirants to the count's laurels will find in this work many conceptual ideas to play with. Gilbert Taylor
