I loved part one, and this is a great follow up. Thankfully Amelie is bust writing the final part now so it shouldn’t be too long before the story is complete �
After Fifty Shades there’s been a multitude of erotic romance reads in this theme of rich guy/not so rich girl, and so many are frankly dull, bland, copycat�failures for me. Tiger Lily though has that something special, great characters, interesting storyline and erotic and varied sex scenes. I so hate it when the sex not only takes over the story but is bland and repetitive...not here though�– perfect balance of sex and story.
�I had to re read the end of last book�– I read so much that its easy to get confused, and I couldn’t quite remember how this had been left...anyway here we are with poor Lily wanting more from Jonas, and stubborn man that he is he’s sticking rigidly to the companion only line. So for now they are apart. Gregor, her boss, �can see she’s upset but there’s history between him and Jonas, and he thinks its for the best, he thinks Lily is too good for Jonas and that history will repeat itself. He wants more from Lily too�– and so does someone else, Jonas’ friend Ian. He’s met Lily when she was with Jonas and now Dani ( Jonas’ ex wife, a caring lady) has involved him in Lily’s attack. Her ex attacked her at the end of the last book, and Dani and Ian would like her to press charges. She doesn't want to though, even though he’s�done it�before. Declan has promised her he’s going to rehab and getting help, and she doesn’t want this to ruin his life. After all she was in love with him in the past, and he was a great support when her parents died. Ian insists she at least makes a legal statement to him� in case of any future problems or she changes her mind. She agrees, but insists they keep it all from Jonas. She knows he’ll come back if he hears about it and her heart just can’t take it, knowing how he feels won’t change. Poor Lily, she’s in a hard place. Life is going to get tougher for her very quickly though, with more problems from Declan, Ian and Gregor both hoping for more from her, and Jonas still keeping tabs on her. Then she finds out he’s gone back to�Melissa. Lily is gutted, and along with the issues from Declan she spirals into despair.
Poor Lily�– it seems everything hits her at once in this book. Jonas won’t move forward into more than the companion role for her, even though he knows she’s in love with him, and its clear to everyone he feels more for her that he’ll admit. He can’t bear for her to be with anyone else though, was furious when David ( the chauffeur) told him Gregor kissed her,�furious when he saw her with Ian,�and yet he’s now with Melissa.
Dani�– she’s a real star and a literal lifesaver. I thought she was going to be one of those friends on outside but evil inside types, but she seems a genuinely lovely lady so far. Melissa though�– she’s great, a real nasty b itch, and every good romance needs one of those IMO! I can’t believe Jonas can be so obtuse as he is in this book�– but of course if he wasn't then things wouldn’t be nowhere near as much fun. Once again Am�lie has written a gripping and sensual story, with unexpected plots and I’m so keen to read the final part and see how it all ends. Its definitely one I’ll reread when its all released so I can go back to back on the instalments and read all in one go. That’s the way I enjoy these stories best, when�I can get the full effect of the drama.

#AMAZING

The only reason I'm not calling the author bad names is because I'm lucky enough to have all 3 books together. Book 2 took it up a notch in intensity, and I couldn't get enough of it either.

Lily is not the type of girl that can do the casual thing, so she has developed feelings towards Jonas now. He's still not quite there, but before they can really explore more, her ex beats her up. Lily is too ashamed to tell the truth, so she runs and cuts off all ties with Jonas. He finally gives up, not knowing the truth of what's going on, and moves on, while Lily completely falls apart. Will Lily be able to trust Jonas enough to tell him the truth before something happens to her?

I"m totally loving Amelie S. Duncan's writing style. She has kept me hooked to where I can't do anything else before I finish all 3 books. Her character development stays perfect, as layers are being uncovered bit by bit. The well written storyline hasn't changed from the first, just keeps getting better. She's done a fabulous job writing realistic characters, where I'm so fully invested in Lily, that my heart physically hurt for her in this book. The sexy scenes are still panty melting goodness, and now there's more love involved. I'm so glad I'm getting the chance to read this amazing series.

Great writing and a fabulous erotic romance series!

I absolutely adored Part One of “Tiger Lily” and didn’t think it could get any more intense. I was wrong. Part Two will break you down and touch on emotions you didn’t even know existed in the previous book. It is emotionally intense as relationships and characters become even more three dimensional and complex.

Lily takes a lot of hits in this one and the reader feels every last one with her. I love books that make me feel (don’t we all?) and Amelie Duncan clearly has a talent for making readers feel. I also felt Lily’s growth from first meeting her in Book One. Readers learn more about what makes Jonas tick and provides some history and “aha” moments in understanding his mentality and actions. I honestly kept hoping some horrific accident would befall Declan. Seriously, like a giant meteor would just land on him and crush him. That may sound wicked to those who haven’t read the book but you will wish the same once you do.

Loved Part Two and I am greatly looking forward to Part Three and what the talented Amelie Duncan has planned for Lily and Jonas. Great writing and a fabulous erotic romance series!

How to Move in to Your Neighborhood

This book is broken up into six sections. The first section, "Incarnation," explores what we mean when we talk about Christ's incarnation and what it means for us to be incarnational as a faith community. The second section, "Reputation," is probably the most helpful section of the book. Here Halter explores the ins and outs of how one goes about being incarnational. A major part of being incarnational is earning a reputation in a community that gives you authority to speak into the deeper issues of people's lives. You do this by avoiding shallow religiosity, planting yourself down in a community long term, working well, and practicing hospitality. Doing these things goes a very long way and actually set us up for having the type of conversations he describes in the third section, "Conversation." As we incarnate God's presence in the world our conversations must be filled with truth, but they must also be filled with grace. We must also learn not to point people to our church or to our religion. We must learn to point people to Jesus first. This means that the name of King Jesus must constantly been on our lips, and we must ooze out the gospel in our conversations. Eventually these conversations lead to a confrontation; the next section is aptly name "Confrontation." It only consists of one chapter, but it's a very important one. It's the chapter that most people are probably waiting for ("when are we going to talk about evangelism!"). Halter makes the important point that this final step - evangelism - is supposed to be a spirit led and inspired moment. He concludes this book with a section titled, "Transformation," where he addresses the issue of conversion without discipleship.

Pros
1. The book is filled with great stories that help put "flesh" to the ideas he is writing about.
2. He clearly communicates the notion that incarnational ministry is not easy and that it takes a lot of time and work.
3. He does not "church bash" - at times these sorts of books tend towards a "the church has it all wrong" attitude; that attitude is absent in this book.

Cons
1. Halter briefly addresses this, but many have written about how "incarnational ministry" is actually a category mistake. They argue that "incarnation" is unique to Christ's role, thus we cannot be "incarnational." This might not be the book to address those types of issues, but I think Halter could have spoken a bit more to it.
2. The chapter on confrontation tends to overlook some important parts of scripture - Halter says that "Jesus never tried to confront someone. They always tended to confront themselves." Halter holds this up as a model for Christians when they interact with friends and family who are making poor choices. I am pretty sure that Jesus did confront people, however he knew how to confront them well. We cannot simply let people "confront themselves" because there are certainly times, especially within the church, that we need to confront one another.

Conclusion
Hugh Halter has written an excellent book describing what it looks like to live incarnationally. There is much wisdom here, especially for those who want to jump quickly into "sealing the deal." We need to learn to slow down, do life with people, and earn a position to speak the gospel into people's lives. That slowing down and doing life is the "incarnational part." I think Hugh is right, we need to learn to be more like Jesus who spent 30 years "moving into the neighborhood" before he began preaching about the Kingdom.

May we learn to "move into the neighborhood," learn the community's rhythms, learn what is "good news" for our friends and neighbors, before we begin preaching a gospel that makes no sense to them...

Compelling but not comprehensive

I like Hugh. I like the book. I enjoyed the a stories and the analogies. I respect the fruit of the labors. My reservation is on how to complete the circle that I agree with Hugh on. I find great encouragement, great advice, and great practice in these pages...yet without consistency in understanding the bible as a whole I am concerned it won't last. As one small example, if the cross is not most important, but the life of Christ, then we have no hope for he finality of what the cross accomplishes which later the author agrees with when he says that we don't invite Jesus, he is the inviter who gives us the grace. Both are needed but life could not have been without the death and resseruction, it's like aging Christmas was more important than Easter. Actually both are wildly important, and Christmas would have been another birthday without the stone being rolled back. And Easter could never have happened without Him coming. So there are some points of the book where I say "yes and amen while nodding constantly" but other points where I said "wait...what, doesn't that negate what I just agreed with" I suppose no book is comprehensive and as far as "Flesh" and practice of grace it hits a great resounding chorus. As far as a manual for a complete way to minister to people, it may not have all the t's crossed. I liked it and so should you.

If you can get past the tattoos and the bar in the living room you will find a very interesting perspective on the incarnation.
I admit I live in a different culture and though I may enjoy a brew now and then I am holding up on the tattoos although I have plenty of surface area. I mention this at the outset because in much of American culture pastors who drink and have tattoos won't get much of hearing from teetotalers. That would be a shame because there is much in the book to think about.

I think people are more willing to be themselves in a pub then in a church which is one of the lessons we can learn from this book.

As I reviewed my notes I found I had highlighted many passages For example, "People are not pagans to be converted. projects to be preached at, or demographics to be reprogrammed". And "If you want a safe faith you will never really know God because he doesn't hang out in the shallow end much...."

There is one point with which I take issue. This quote is found on page 46, "Jesus did not come to convert people. Nowhere did he ever say that was his goal. What we do see is that his primary desire was to give glory to the Father by revealing his glory...."

I certainly agree that Jesus came to glorify the Father. He is clear about that in John 14-17 but Jesus also says in Luke 19:10 "The Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost." This sounds like conversion to me. So seeking to convert is not at odds with glorifying God but in fact the way in which Jesus glorifies the Father. This reminds us that incarnation may involve invocation.

About the Author
Prior to her near-death or near-death-like experience, Sandy had been heavily involved with church and children's activities since she became pregnant with her first child. She was a Sunday School teacher, Youth Leader and director of Christmas and Easter Pageants. She worked for the school system as a payroll clerk, SIMS manager and substitute teacher. Sandy volunteered for Hospice and many other organizations to uplift those in need. Currently, Sandy is on the Board of Directors for ACISTE (American Center for the Integration of Spiritually Transformative Experiences), www.aciste.org. She is also a forum administrator for ACISTE Experiencer Forum, which is a social network site for experiencers only. It is a place�to share and discuss our experiences, challenges, gifts, missions or thoughts in a supportive, validating community of other experiencers.�The idea is to make new�friends as we help each other process our spiritually transformative experiences. Sandy also assists other forums such as: NDE-Space, ASCSI, and NHNE. She is a member of IANDS (International Association for Near-Death Studies, and co-leads the Triad Iands Support Group. Wonderful read, thought provoking, inspirational and a must read for anyone interested in spiritual experiences.

Sandy Briggs has brought us a book that has been well researched through the years of her spiritual journey. It began for her as a child and has continued through her adult years. She has reached out to others with similar experiences to get a better understanding of all she has experienced.
While I have not had any spiritual interactions of my own, I have family members that have. It gave me a better understanding of what I have been told over the years.
This book offers much insight into Mrs. Briggs life journey and how this has given her an inner peace to get through obstacles that we all face. Thank you for writing this book, Mrs. Briggs, it has also, given me a better understanding of my own life and daily struggles as well.

Beautifully Rich and Amazing Journey in the Light of God

Sandy Briggs takes you on a wonderful and inspiring journey into her transformational experiences of God - from the depression that first plagued her to the loving joyful experience of God that set her soul free and on a path of mission.

The Scriptures which Sandy shares here and there in her book I experienced in a whole new way. They came alive for me. My experience of them were not as words being preached at you, but rather as rose petals that open, blossoming and spreading their fragrance, taking on a whole new meaning for me.

This book is very well-written and flows very easily. I was really drawn into her story of her experiences of God and had many, "Aha!," moments along the way for myself. This is a book I know I will read again and will refer to often.

To date, there have been two books on Near-Death Experiences that have deeply touched my life. One is Anita Moorjani's, "Dying to be Me", the other is Barbara Harris Whitfield's, "Full Circle: The Near-Death Experience and Beyond." Sandy Briggs' book, "A God Experience In the Light: A Transcendent Experience of the Spirit" has now been added to my special list. I am looking forward to reading her next book.

Lessons of Tolerance and Love

A God Experience in the Light describes a number of interesting, transcendent experiences. But more than a typical NDE book, Ms. Briggs adds a number of important lessons of love, including the importance of sticking with difficult choices to accomplish personal mission, even if it means sacrificing immediate happiness. Ms. Brigg's also challenges the foundations of conservative Christianity. As a Christian feeling rejected by other Christians following her NDE-like experience, Ms. Briggs effectively contrasts the narrow, intolerant attitudes of some corners of Christianity with the open, tolerant ministry of Jesus. I likewise share her concerns with the general direction of Christianity; somehow it seems that the conservative movement has hijacked Jesus to create an exclusive, judgmental club that does not reflect the loving Spirit of Christ. I also liked her discussion of pre-birth memories. Ms. Briggs writes in an easy but intelligent style. I highly recommend this book that stand's apart from the rest.

Purchased "Social Work Administration"

The best thing about this transaction was the price. It was very inexpensive and it was the book I wanted. The only criticism I have is the description said "like new" but the book arrived with the dust jacket missing and some pages had been annotated or highlighted by the previous owner. This is not a major complaint given the price, but I do not agree this is "like new" condition. I would have given the transaction a higher rating if the item description had been more accurate so that I was not expecting something "like new".

HR Management is a specialized position, not just anyone can do it, this provides an enjoyable explanation of what it is. Also, there are explanation boxes that go a little further in explaining general HR functions. Finally, to drive the point home, there is a quiz at the end of each chapter. To understand more about where your HR Manager is coming from, or if you're curious about whether you would want be an HR Manager, this is a good one.

terrific tools and powerful story!

i really enjoyed reading this book!!

Biography/autobiography is my favorite form of literature, so I do not read all of some books I begin. Life is too short to finish book that does not seem to say anything.

What a terrific book! I read quite a bit ~~and my favorite form of literature is biography/autobiography.
i began this book at the end ( i always do this) ...if i am not inspired or learn anything new , i usually do not read the book..

well, i read this book from the back forward.. and it was still wonderful!

She has a powerful testimony and is honest, vulnerable, and full of fun..

i think anyone struggling to overcome fear will be encouraged and gain some terrific tools!!

I finished this one because of her honestly, vulnerability, and humor.

Also, Melissa has overcome many obstacles that would stop most folks!

Not only has she seemed to eliminate fear, she is living a full and rich life full of possibilities and fun!!

Everyone who has any kind of fear ( and who doesn't ?) will benefit from this book.

love, and hope

I am only on page 30, and this book is changing me from the inside out and giving me courage to not only face my fears but further to have them addressed by God only and also to have the assistance of heaven to point to them, and have the courage to see them for what they are and to over write them spiritually and also physically/biologically by replacing them with truth, love, and hope. Eliminating Fear also is also helping to not only give me hope, but to comprehend hope and therefore begin to live in it. Thank you Melissa for this gift to humanity!
