Al Left me feeling closer to Christ, feeling empowered to use the Internet for good, and feeling proud to be LDS
By Jenna Marie
I've followed Al Carraway's blog for the past two years, and even though I've looked forward to every post and video, when she shared the news that she was writing a book I was a little worried... Would it just be a collection of her already published blog posts? Would it be something sterilized, something lacking her spirit and wisdom? For those who even remotely feel the same way, I promise this is not the case! Al has been able to write about her conversion and her faith from an even fresher perspective. She is able to share more personal details with the reader, which are used to help keep the spirit close as you read. Even more, the book is split into two parts: "my story" and "your story". In doing so, Al is able to teach by example and inspire us to do as she has done: live fearlessly by faith, never give up, and help build the Kingdom of God here on earth. This is a special story that I would share with my Young Women, my non-member family, and even my friends. You can tell that Al Carraway prayed for guidance during every step of writing his book, and I look forward to reading it again.

Not my will but thine, be done.
By TB
I liked the first half of the book, but after she "arrived" in Utah, it became a little repetitive.
Most of the twenty-something women I know in the church have never read the Book of Mormon (with real intent and prayed about it) and have a huge hang up with church history (i.e. polygamy), women's rights in the church and of course the whole gay marriage thing. They are rebelling against their fathers in droves and leaving the church.
In comes Al Fox.
A non-religious product of a broken family, tatted up like a badass biker and living in a bathtub-sized apartment in up state New York. No way she fits in to the Mormon narrative. Period. Until a couple of bubble-headed missionaries offered her a Book of Mormon (and steak). She takes the Book of Mormon and actually reads it -- like it was for real. And what do you know? Reading it makes her feel happiness. Joy. The spirit. Who knew.
In fact, she feels the spirit so much she jumps out of bed early one morning and begs the missionaries to baptize her.
Anyway, soon after she announces her new found faith to her co-workers, the typical onslaught of anti-mormon material washes over her. Her co-workers, mother, and even her father tell her to get a grip and bail. Her dad even spent extra hours researching all the crazy stuff on the mormons and hands Al a giant stack of material -- then gives her the ultimatum: Leave the church of you are dead to me. Whoa. What a nice, understanding dad.
So Al says, sorry pops, love you and all that but I'm not gonna stop reading the Book of Mormon, and I'm staying Mormon -- Because it makes me happy and brings me joy. And the kicker is the dad follows through and stops speaking to Al.
Wow.
These days, there are countless millennial women sprinting away from the church... but then here's Al -- lowering her head and running right past them. Toward the church. She's like the eighth wonder of the world. A true anomaly.
And what are the issues driving away the millennial women? How about gay marriage? Doesn't matter to Al. Polygamy? Whatever. The Temple ceremony? AL LOVES IT!!!! Weird mormon underwear that makes you look frumpy? She couldn't wait to get them on!! The role of women in the church? Awesome!! The Book of Mormon anachronisms? Who cares, the point is reading the book makes Al feel joy, happy and close to Jesus Christ.
I'm sure there are a LOT of people on both sides of the mormon fence scratching their head over this woman. How can she be so crazy positive about the church these days? That's so not in right now.
What's cool to the millennial generation is to Do as Thou Wilt.
But Al says NO, what's cool is to go to the temple. What's cool is to read the Book of Mormon. What's cool is to wear garments. What's cool is to honor your father and mother. What's cool is to pray to God constantly
And most important of all, what's cool is: Not my will but thine, be done.
Thank you Al, for showing your generation how to follow Christ. Thank you for shinning a giant spot light on satan's battle cry: Do as thou wilt.
Thank you for sacrificing your will to the Father's and reflecting Christ's light for all to see.

This Book is A Must Read!!!
By dawngabby
Her book was Heaven sent!! I truly believe she was inspired by God to write this book. It touched my heart in many ways & has inspired me to never give up & to do my best. Try my best. I think it's a book everyone should read & especially young women. I also feel she was directed to write what she wrote by the spirit. Such a great book!! Truly will bless lives, change lives & help others come unto Christ. I was able to hear her speak & it was amazing!! She's such a happy person & I think it's because of how she chooses to live her life. If you're wondering if you should buy this book, don't! Just do it!! It will bless your life & you'll feel inspired to share with others. It's really that good!!
