“The Round Little Boy” is a humorous tale for parents and children alike. It deals with social issues, as Perry is teased at school for his weight and his parents continue to encourage him to eat. This tale, intended for young readers, helps to teach youngsters not only about obesity, but also self-respect. Young people, implies the story, should not give in to bullying, teasing, or other abuse regarding their appearance. Perry has two parents who love and support him, no matter his weight. But, the story also teaches an important lesson about body image. Children learn that they should value their bodies, eat healthy food, and practice good fitness. As Perry gains weight, he loses his ability to do the things he loves to do. For instance, he cannot go outside to play with his friends when he is overweight because he isn’t healthy enough to run around. As Perry gains weight, he loses self-respect and becomes more reliant on his parents and his sister for help.
Perry’s love for food is not a problem; the problem is his love for unhealthy food. His obsession with chips, French fries, ice cream, etc. is an illness, and only when Perry grows an appreciation for fruits and vegetables does he become a healthy weight. This children’s book will serve to help parents teach their children about healthy eating through a magical and fun story. This is a great book about a boy growing up in today’s fast-food world and learning the facts of life: if you want to be healthy then you need to eat healthy.

A Must Read Story!

I loved this book! This book hit home for me because I have a 1st grader who is already experiencing this very issue.I cannot wait to read this to my children, often. I am sure they will enjoy this book as much as did!

What a marvelous children book!! It adressess the problem of obessity that so many children faced today by habits of chosen the wrong
food. This book served as a vehicle to so many parents and children with a message that they are not alone. A positive healthy and fun story

What a cleverly written story!!! What a create ending! 2 thumbs up! Oh, and I really love that Perry's favorite color is green because that is my favorite color. Hee hee. Write more stories! Need more of these kind of education stories in the the children's libraries. Dr. Oz should know about this book.
