A�few years ago, following a lecture I gave at a local church, a student confessed to me that she wished she had been born a Jew so she could know what Jesus experienced. Moved by her words, I asked her what--aside from being reborn in a different era--could help her gain that knowledge. She said, "A real understanding of Jesus's life as a Jew."
This book is the result of that conversation. It is a result of thousands of hours spent in learning and conversations with devoted Jews and Christians who care about growing in faith and knowledge.

About the Author
Evan Moffic is lead rabbi of Congregation Solel, a synagogue of 500 families. He blogs regularly for Beliefnet.com, Huffingtonpost.com, and MichaelHyatt.com. Over the last six years, he has officiated at more than 200 interfaith weddings, giving him familiarity with the sensitivities and interests of Christian families in Judaism. esus taught in allegories - you have to know what he was referring to. This book gives that understanding

For some time I have become convinced that I cannot understand Jesus unless I could hear him with the ears of a first century CE Jew because was teaching Torah and all the many nuances of Jewish religion.
I did not know Torah or the nuances either. It's like the joke "at any point in that ride through the desert, he could have given that horse a Name"
If you don't know the song, you don't get the joke. Jesus was not joking but I was sure I was missing a whole and a large part of what he was saying because I did not know the'song' that is I did not get the allusions or know what they were referring to. I did not know how to rectify this so I started researching first century Judaism but that still didn't give me the whole "song"
I stumbled on this book in the search for Judaism.i considered converting, joining kids in Jewish school but would not fit the little chairs and then

Another well written book I can read when I retire from work in 8 years.

There is a entire series of books by this author, Evan Moffic. I lent it to my church leaders. I only have about 65 books to read. Maybe when in 8 years when I'm 70 and can retire fully vested in Social Security I will be able to read more. I kind of like books. Thank you Amazon for feeding my addiction of books. No wonder I'm broke! Hah! I'll read it eventually and I know this will be a good book. The author has high marks on his book reviews!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading about what I learned as a student of the Bible throughout my life. Educating others would hopefully replace ignorance with understanding of acceptance of our diverse world.
