The Dragon Masters Return with Another Adventure ...

The second book in the Dragon Master series, “Saving the Sun Dragon”, continues the story begun in “Rise of the Earth Dragon”. It is also a chapter book that will engage new readers. It can be an enjoyable read-aloud for pre-schoolers and kindergarteners who have advanced beyond Little Golden Books. Tracey West has written a book that has magic dragons; features multi-ethnic children learning to become Dragon Masters; Griffith, a wizard, complete with a long, flowing white beard, who is the Dragon Masters’ instructor; and King Roland who may have nefarious plans for the dragons and the Dragon Masters.

When Ana’s dragon Kepri becomes ill, King Roland orders Griffith to heal Kepri. If he cannot, Roland will replace Griffith with another wizard. The young Dragon Masters – Drake, Ana, Bo, and Rori – help Griffith search through a “giant pile of books” as they seek a cure. Transported to a faraway land, the Dragon Masters encounter Heru and his dragon Wati who is Kepri’s Moon Dragon twin. Attacked by tomb robbers, their adventure takes a dangerous turn; with the dragons’ help, they escape. Telling Wati that he, too, is a Dragon Master, he then tells the four that he and his family serve the dragons rather than being the dragons’ masters. The four Dragon Masters and a healed Kepri return to King Roland’s castle just in time to prevent Griffith’s being replaced.

“Saving the Sun Dragon” is an easy to read book. Chapters are brief, the vocabulary is not particularly sophisticated or difficult, and sentences are simple and short. The subject matter will interest young boys who may find some early reader books “boring”. There is magic and action, and there are mythical creatures that will engage children. Graham Howells’ black and white illustrations are on almost every page. This feature is a something I appreciate since my five-year old grandson has advanced to having chapter books read aloud to him at bedtime, but still wants pictures included with the story.

If you are looking for a series of books that will interest early readers, particularly boys, you will want to look at the Dragon Master series. It is not necessary to have read “Rise of the Earth Dragon” to enjoy “Saving the Sun Dragon”. Tracey West provides enough background information in this second book of the series to allow it to be enjoyed independent of “Rise of the Earth Dragon”. However, if your young reader or listener is anything like my grandson, you will not only want the first two books of the series, but will pre-order the others!

Fun and Suspenseful

My 7 year old son & I LOVE this series!! He reads independently, but we like to read this together before bed. The stories are suspenseful and captivating. My son is not particularly into dragons, so I wasn't sure if he would enjoy the first one, but he's hooked! We've read 1-7 and awaiting #8 to be released in the Fall. :)

great series for a 1st grader

This is the second book in the series and my son and I are currently loving reading it together. We read 2-3 chapters every night and he can't get enough. The pictures are great and inspire his creative mind. The writing is simple and imaginative for his age group (1st grade). We will soon be buying the 3rd book and I am hoping by the time we are done with the 5th he will be able to read them all back to me :)

About the Author

Ray Buckley is the interim Director of the Center for Native American Spirituality and Christian Study.�� Buckley has served The United Methodist Church as a staff member of The United Methodist Publishing House, Director of the Native People’s Communication Office (UMCom) for nine years, and Director of Connectional Ministries for the Alaska Missionary Conference.

Buckley is the author /illustrator of five books:� God’s Love is Like…(1998,Abingdon Press), The Give-Away:� A Christmas Story in the Native American Tradition (1999, Abingdon Press), The Wing (2002, Abingdon Press), Christmas Moccasins (2003, Abingdon Press),� and Dancing with Words:� Storytelling as Legacy, Culture, and Faith (Discipleship Resources, 2003).� He is also the author of Creator Sang a Welcoming Song (2007), and Walking in These White Man Shoes (2007), children and youth resources for the Women’s Dvision School of Missions.� The Give-Away was selected to appear on the CBS Christmas Eve special, An American Christmas, produced by the National Council of Churches.� His stories, poetry, and art have appeared in numerous journals, periodicals, books, and museums.

Buckley has taught in Nigeria, and Ghana, and served as a lecturer in Native American studies for several universities.

Ray Buckley was a keynote speaker at the Jubilee 2000, Cardinal Maeda Institute.� At the invitation of the Council of Canadian Catholic Bishops, he has twice appeared on the nationally televised Canadian Catholic Broadcasting Corporation’s� Lenten series.� In July 2001, Ray was a keynote speaker at the General Synod of the UCC/Disciples of Christ General Assembly.� In 2003, 2004, and 2007, Mr. Buckley was a guest lecturer� at the Pontifical Biblical Institute of the Vatican.

Ray was chosen as the Howard Preacher for Phillip’s Theological Seminary,� delivered the McDonald Lecture Series (New Mexico), and the Ira Galloway Lecture Series (Peoria, IL).� Buckley was one of five keynote speakers at Youth 2007 (SPLAT), sponsored by the General Board of Discipleship.

A story of forgiveness

Ray Buckley weaves a touching story of forgiveness in Christmas Moccasins. A Native American, Buckley tells stories of his heritage that illustrate the Creator's love for all.

In this story, a young boy and his grandmother are beaten by three people and robbed of their coats; Grandmother's moccasins are also stolen. Instead of revenge, the grandmother spends months creating three very special pairs of moccasins which she presents to the offenders on Christmas Eve.

The three young folks are surprised to receive a friendly visit someone they had hurt. When she presented the gifts, each in turn, Grandmother simply said, "I wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas. God bless you." The recipients were speechless. As the text says, "There was no need for words. None were spoken."

The illustrations, by the author, are bold and colorful and reflect a Native American spirit.

What I Like: Everything. This is a touching story told in a unique fashion.

What I Dislike: Nothing.

Overall Rating: Excellent.

Age Appeal: 4-8.

I even love the name

Another in Ewart Oakeshott's enjoyable series on the knight in armor and on horseback! (You can't have him any other way really: dismounted on foot alongside large companies of archers, why, you've moved into the next stage of warfare beyond chivalry).
Why, I even love the name, "Ewart Oakeshott! Who better to regale us with the results of his life-long investigation into the realm of knighthood? When I read his books, I'm magically brought back to the '50s when as a child in New York State I fell under the spell of Marx and Lido plastic toy knights and Robin Hood men! Imagine Ewart growing up with his increasing collection of medieval swords! Great!

If a student is interested in learning about real historical weaponry (not as seen on TV) this is a great place to start

The five stars are for use of this book in teaching the subject at an introductory level. If a student is interested in learning about real historical weaponry (not as seen on TV) this is a great place to start.
If the reader is expecting a scholarly summary of Oakeshott's other medieval studies it would be a disappointment. I recommend this for teachers and instructors. Otherwise, if you recognize names like Silver, Fiore, or MSI.33 it isn't for you.

Substandard Work by Oakshott

The late Ewart Oakshott has a reputation as methodical researcher & scholar of swords, but this short volume is substandard. His discussion of the weapons is too superficial. The illustrations chosen are of limited value to explain the text. It is poorly written and I was troubled by numerous errors in grammar. This book is not worthy to stand beside his other publications.

This Novella was just not for me...

Well I really liked the Zombie aspect of this book because I am a huge fan of that genre but a lot of this story seemed really weird to me...

So this story starts out with Bryce who is save by Richard who is in a relationship with Cole when Richard finds Bryce. So Richard wants Bryce besides the fact he is kind of with Cole and his whole character came off so odd to me and a little scary, run in the other direction before you even think about hooking up with him if you know what I mean. Then there was Cole who has a lot of problems which he needs medication for and because he does not have it that makes him super mean too.
Now the only character I sort of end up liking in this book was Bryce the rest I can say I was not really a huge fan of. So I did like where this author was going with this book but sadly I was just not a fan of the characters and they brought the book down for me. So I am sad to say this Novella was just not for me...

This was an awesome surprise..... The innovative thinking and creative concept of the virus is new to the zombie world.. So if you love zombies, and aren't afraid of the man love too.. I highly recommend this read for your entertainment... (this defaulted to my partner's name...cause am using his Kindle. My name is John.)

Review:

Wow, this book ended up being one of my favorite zombie book and even better, it was a gay zombie book. I was surprised that the author managed to make it as original as possible. Knowing how much zombies there were out there, thinking up an original had to be the hardest thing to succeed.

I loved Bryce. He had a great voice in the story. The story was told in first POV from Bryce. He was such a vulnerable character in the story. The zombies in the book were scary as hell. Seeing what were their characteristics freaked me out a bit. That excited me! I loved when the book actually scared or freaked me out. It was what I look for in a book.

If the author didn't mentioned Cole had a bipolar issue, I wouldn't like him at all. Being off medicine and being a jerk like that was an understandable. I eventually warmed up to Cole throughout the book. I was amazed that he was able to cook up something absolutely delicious with the canned food. That was something I'd need to learn.

Richard...he was a total hottie in the book. He was a bear type man! Hairy chest. Oh yum! I didn't get to see that kind character in gay books lately. That also excited me. Learning who Richard was in the book, I fell for him already. He was smart and showed he care no matter what situations he might be in, he still cared. I was impressed with his patience for his lover, Cole. Especially in an apocalypse setting where they were running away from the zombies. If I wanted to be protected by someone, that someone would be Richard. He had a good survival instinct than Cole and Bryce.

There wasn't a lot of sex in the book, which was perfect for my entertaining read. At first, I thought it would be three-way sex between three of them, but no it wasn't. It was between two men. The developmental between three of them were done extremely well. The author managed to make me feel like I was part of their world. My heart raced every time something bad happen to one of them.

The book cover...I wasn't too happy about it. It didn't match the characters in the book. Neither did the background in the book cover. With red moon, I easily assumed it'd be a werewolf story not a zombie story until I read the blurb. Actually, I didn't know until a friend told me about this one. No worry, that didn't affect the book rating.

The ending was the most surprisingly out of the whole story and I could tell it was the end. I felt that all answers were being answered at least most of them were. It left me with a satisfaction when I finished the book. I'd love to read more from other characters' POV in the same world as them.

Highly recommend for zombies fans!

Very good on its purpose

This book is surely one of the best available for its purpose, that is, to give an introduction to the refrigeration and air conditioning technology, and also to teach how to install, service, and maintain all the hardware associated with this.
The text is very well writen, in a very clever language. Graphics are very good, and very helpful to the understanding of topics. Sections dedicated to the electrical and electronic sub-systems were a surprise: they are also very clear, and are very helpful even for experienced technicians. There are even sections dedicated to airflow at conditioned spaces, a matter that isn't very well undestood by technicians.
I strongly suggest this book to the people that wants to start working in this technical area, and also to that who already work with it. Very useful to the begginer and to the experienced technician as well.

I am an hvac technician,and this book was more clearly written and logically written than any book in its field that i have read.(and I have read a lot of books}.
It is considered the bible of the hvac industry- highly recommended!

I have over a decade of experience conducting internet research, competitive intelligence and training Recruiters on internet research techniques inside Microsoft, Google, Siemens, MCI and a string of startup companies. As such, I have been privy to several trends, tools and tech that all Sourcers should be leveraging in their daily routine. As I read through THE SOURCERS PLAYBOOK, I realized that Geoff Peterson had discussed the most relevant tools and more profitable techniques in a clear, concise and casual manner. Robyn Griggs Lawrence helped introduce mainstream America to sustainable lifestyles and healthy homes with Natural Home magazine and introduced readers to the Japanese art of finding beauty in imperfection with her books The Wabi-Sabi House and Simply Imperfect: Revisiting the Wabi-Sabi House. As Natural Home editor in chief from 1999 until 2010, Lawrence traveled the country meeting people who are passionate about building and living sustainably. Lawrence has also been an editor with Organic Spa, Mountain Living, and The Herb Companion magazines and has run successful blogs on the Huffington Post, Care2.com, and motherearthnews.com. She lives in Boulder, Colorado.

Povy Kendal Atchison is a food photographer and a graduate of Brooks Institute of Photography. Not just a beautiful cookbook!

This is a beautiful cookbook. But it goes so far beyond that. Robyn does an amazing job of educating - with understandable words, fantastic photos, and ESPECIALLY communicating the nuances - it can be tricky with food - and I love that she takes that part so seriously so that the user has good results and a good experience. The I've tried a few of the recipes so far and they have been wonderful - *very* hard not to eat the entire plate of mushrooms stuffed with garlic-herb goat cheese! Not to mention - aesthetically, it really is such a beautiful book!

A Must Buy!

Wow....totally unexpected in the best way possible/ I had expected recipes, but was not expecting the awesome overview on a rapidly new legal industry. The author has managed to take the guess work out of all of the new products and general information needed to navigate ones way through this process. I love that she talks very clearly on infusions, tinctures, oils, buyers guides, butters, etc. Probably most importantly, a clear explanation on how to buy, and what to look for. .
This book offers a very special service to new medical cannabis users, that to my knowledge, has not been available before. It is a great primer for all individuals that are new to this changed world. A special bonus is not only the great information, but also wonderful sounding recipes with great photos.

I love this cook book! It has just the right attitude; sassy and delicious. Contributions by different people add to the variety of options and express an individual approach which makes the reader feels free to explore their own creations. If you want to understand modern propaganda, start here

This book is a must read for anyone who wants to understand how influence campaigns are conducted (and perhaps not so well) by the British and UK governments. While this is an academic work, Emma shines light on a field that is not often understood or even seen. This may not be a quick or easy read, but Emma has poured considerable research and effort into this opus - and her writing style overcomes the constraints of academia.
